Tormenta signs USL1 Goalkeeper of the Year Sean Lewis

A year after making one of the more surprising free agent signings of the 2024 offseason by signing goalkeeper Austin Pack, Tormenta has once again made a splash in the free agent goalkeeper market, this time signing Sean Lewis from the defending League One champion One Knox.

Lewis, the two-time defending USL League One Goalkeeper of the Year (winning in 2024 and 2025), spent the past three seasons with One Knox where he helped lead Knoxville to the regular season and playoff titles in 2025*.

I can not wait for 2026 to get here so I can say "last year" and everyone will know what I'm talking about. If I wrote "last year" now, that now it could lead to some confusion of "did he mean 2025 or 2024?"

Lewis will be reunited with Tormenta Head Coach Mark McKeever, who coached Lewis in 2023-2024, and Jordan Bell, who served as Assistant Coach at One Knox in 2023 before joining Tormenta in 2024.

"I am delighted to have the opportunity to work with Sean again," McKeever said in the Tormenta press release of the signing. "He brings tremendous experience, and our views of the game are very aligned with what will fit into the club's game model."

In 2025, he led all Golden Glove eligible goalkeepers with a 73.4 percent save percentage while also  recording 59 saves and 10 shutouts in 2025.

Lewis steps in to replace Austin Pack, the 2022 USL League One Goalkeeper of the Year who spent one season with Tormenta in 2025. Pack and Tormenta finished the regular season in 6th place before falling to Spokane in the opening round of the playoffs.

Tormenta has not announced who is returning, but backup goalkeeper Sam Jones was not among the players South Georgia announced they were parting ways with in announcements last week. If he returns, it's assumed he would again serve that role backing up Lewis in 2026.

Prior to his time with One Knox, Lewis had stints at Indy 11 (2022) and FC Tulsa (2019-2022). He played his college ball at Western Michigan for three seasons before finishing his college career with the Oakland Golden Grizzlies.

The loss of Pack was set to hurt Tormenta's defense, but there couldn't have been a better option, at least among League One goalkeeper options, than Lewis.
