Well that was something

All the talk and preseason prognostications came to end Friday night as Tormenta and Richmond stepped on the field to open the 2025 campaign. While Tormenta dominated possession, it was Richmond who took advantage of their limited opportunities, at one point having three goals scored on just four touches inside the Tormenta penalty area.
"For how many goals they had and how many attacks, that ratio, we've got to look at that and work it out because I imagine they arrived five or six times and scored four goals off it," Tormenta manager Ian Cameron said. "That'e really clinical. It looks really bad. But at the same token, I think it's just a couple of areas that we have to clean up and we certainly got punished on it tonight."
Here's a link to my game recap at the Statesboro Herald.
Now that the season is finally underway (well, eight teams still need to kick off, but I don't make the schedule so please don't blame me), I wanted to give you a heads up on my hope and plan for the season. Last year, in my first year blogging here, I may have been a bit ambitious and bit off more than I could handle in trying to do three posts a week. That turned out to be a lot when also doing my day job and trying to be a good husband and parent. By the end of last season I was getting burn out. And as I said in my very first post on this blog, sports are supposed to be fun. So we're going to cut back a little in the hopes of restoring the fun.
You'll still get the game recaps (in the Statesboro Herald for home games, here for road games) on Mondays and we'll still do previews on Fridays with a news and notes section at the end, but the midweek posts will be fewer. I still want to do Power Rankings (well, my version of Power Rankings) and I've got an idea for another monthly feature I'd like to try, but I can't promise a midweek feature every week.
If something big comes up, I'll certainly cover it, either here or at the Statesboro Herald (If they're willing to pay me, I'll write it there, otherwise, I'll do it here.) I'm also going to cover as much W-League Tormenta action as time allows. And we'll adjust to midweek games as well. It's still a work in progress.
As always, my goal to post at or around 8 a.m. Eastern to give you something to read before you start work (yes, that's actually the reason for the early posting times).
We'll see you Friday with a preview of Tormenta as they face AV Alta in Alta's first ever game in USL League One.
